When it comes to recording, a great set of studio monitors is essential to make sure you are hearing a true reflection of the recordings you're making. Unlike hi-fi speakers, studio monitors are designed to give you an even and accurate reproduction of the sound you have recorded without any artificial EQ like "bass boost". This is important because when you are mixing your recordings you need to hear a true recording to make sure that you mix it properly and it sounds good on everyones sound systems. Our general advice when it comes to buying monitors would be to get the biggest speaker diameter you can afford, particularly if you make bass heavy music. A bigger diameter speaker (5" or 8") will give a better bass response generally speaking.
