With their eponymous debut in 1978, Van Halen simultaneously rewrote the rules of rock guitar and hard rock in general. Guitarist Eddie Van Halen redefined the possibilities of the electric guitar, developing a lightning-fast technique with a variety of self-taught two-handed tapping, hammer-ons, pull-offs and effects that imitated machine and animal sounds. She was wildly inventive and outstanding, surpassed only by singer David Lee Roth, who brought the metal singer's role to near performing arts standards. Unlike Eddie, Roth wasn't blessed with great technique, but he had a flair for showmanship that also came from lounge performers like Robert Plant. Together they made Van Halen the most popular American rock and roll band of the late 70s and early 80s, setting the template for hard rock and heavy metal of the 80s.

Rapper Tupac Amaru Shakur, better known by his stage names 2Pac and Makaveli, was born in the United States on June 16, 1971. He is regarded by many as one of the greatest successful and influential rappers of all time.  Shakur has sold over 75 million records worldwide, making him one of the best-selling musicians. Tupac's music is well known for tackling current societal challenges that inner cities faced.  Thug Life released its only album, Thug Life: Vol. 1, on October 11, 1994, which is certified Gold.

The band became popular worldwide with their fourth album "Toto IV" (1982), for which they received platinum awards in several countries. In particular, the hits "Rosanna" and "Africa" contained therein finally brought the band the status of a radio-friendly AOR band of world stature. The album sold millions of copies by 1983 and the band received a total of six Grammys.

The Beatles: Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band | 180g | LP | Vinyl

Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, the band's eighth album, was released on June 1, 1967 and became the soundtrack of the "Summer of Love," but its appeal is timeless.  Work on the recording had begun in late 1966, and at one point it was thought that both Penny Lane and Strawberry Fields Forever would be included, but when they were released as singles in February, that idea was abandoned.  Revolver had been finished just in time before the band left for another tour. Now that the tour was behind them, more time could be spent writing and recording. Between November 1966 and April 1967, they spent over 400 hours in the studio - a big difference from the Please Please Me days.
