About the album
Advertising truth: the Brian Jonestown Massacre's second album indeed originates from the Rolling Stones' long-overlooked 1967 masterpiece, as advertised. "Their Satanic Majesties Request" freely admits to ripping off the rock 'n' roll circus vibe and Mick and Keith's "bad boy" persona. "All Around You (Intro)," a lighthearted introduction to the journey ahead, sets the tone for everything. Like the Stones' self-titled album, "Second Request," the album itself is a bizarre kaleidoscope powered by illegal substances. Each track bursts with dozens of sound effects, including sitars, mellotrones, farfisas, didgeridoos, tablas, congas, and chimes.
