Trombones

The word “trombone” comes from the Italian word "Tromba" and the suffix -one ( for large), which literally means “large trumpet”. However the trombone is quite different from the trumpet and the most obvious difference is that the trombone has no valves, but instead it has a slide mechanism that changes the length of the trombone and thus the pitch of the instrument.
